There is no central story or natural ending, so the length of play is dictated by personal goals and whether or not the player continues to survive.

So, how long does Kenshi last? Essentially, this is up to the player. Over time, other aspects are added to the gameplay loop, such as building squads or creating towns and outposts. This can include functional skills that make it easier to acquire items or those that make survival easier, such as combat skills. The player character begins with no skills, but a leveling-up system allows new skills to be learned through actions. Early in the game, Kenshi places a strong emphasis on survival elements.

Freedom is very much at the core of the experience, and there is no central narrative or hand-holding to guide players through the Kenshi map. Kenshi is a single-player role-playing game with an emphasis on sandbox-style features.
